Virya Energy is active in the development, financing, and operation of projects in the field of energy transition. The company, based in Belgium, was founded at the end of 2019 by Colruyt Group and its majority shareholder, Korys.

Virya Energy is active across the entire value chain of sustainable energy. This includes the production of green energy in Europe through its subsidiaries Eoly Energy and Eurowatt, in Asia through its subsidiary Sanchore and a majority stake in Constant Energy, and energy distribution through its subsidiary DATS 24. Virya Energy is also involved in the development of sustainable hydrogen projects through Virya H2. The company holds interests in service providers to the offshore industry, including GeoXYZ, DotOcean, and Marlinks.

Since October 2023, Virya Energy has also acquired a majority stake in the Belgian company Diodi, which specializes in sustainable agricultural land management.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Controller to join one of our affiliates of our mid-size holding company in the renewable energy sector. Our company is committed to driving sustainable and “fit for purpose” energy solutions. As part of our finance team, the ideal candidate will be responsible for steering the organization towards value creation with a strong focus on financial reporting and (business) controlling. The company itself has a strong entrepreneurial spirit with a keen motivation to play an important role in the energy transition and be at the forefront of shaping the future of energy.

  • Support the Management Team in creating shareholder value
  • Focus on value creation at the operational, financial and fiscal level, through reporting/controlling and presentation of relevant operational/financial metrics
  • Translate a deep understanding of both the business and financial modelling into financial implications of decisions and financial returns of projects
  • Perform ad-hoc and/or regular profitability analyses on more specific and complex business scenarios of the existing and future businesses, in order to continuously adjust business strategies
  • Assist in the budget and forecasting process, monitor variations vs the business plan, challenge the business by testing the assumptions of their business plan
  • Monitor both the short and long-term financial key aspects (cash planning, financing needs) of the company to support the upcoming investment plans in sustainable energy projects
  • Propose and analyze different financial structuring solutions at corporate or subsidiary level
  • Prepare periodic financial presentations and reports for the relevant stakeholders (management team, shareholder meetings, banks, other stakeholders)
  • Participate and contribute actively to continuously improving reporting, controlling and planning processes
  • Coördination of the ERP implementation and other finance transformation projects  

Job requirements

  • A Master's degree in Finance or related field
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the energy business
  • You have the ability to understand complex businesses
  • You have a good understanding of the relevant financial, fiscal and regulatory aspects and are able to model the associated implications on the ability of the business to generate value
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills (both with the rest of the team and management)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and relevant controlling software
  • You speak and write fluently in Dutch and English
